About Side Splitters Comedy Club
Side Splitters is Tampa Bay's longest-running independent comedy club. Built in 1992 on North Dale Mabry Highway in Carrollwood, it has brought national touring headliners to Tampa for more than 30 years. Past headliners include Shane Gillis, Matt Rife, Jim Breuer and Louis C.K.
Brian Thompson started at the club as a bartender in 2007, worked his way up to general manager and bought it in June 2019. The club is known for championing local comics, and its Comic's Night Out open mic is one of the area's best-known. Side Splitters also has a location at The Grove in Wesley Chapel, and has announced a 250-seat club on the second level of the Sundial centre in downtown St. Petersburg.
